If selected as a coach for the RCYS youth softball ministry at Bethel Christian Church, you are entrusted with the responsibility of guiding, mentoring, and modeling Christ-like behavior for the children in our care. Your role is not only to teach the skills of the game but also to uphold the values of our faith in your words, actions, and decisions.
Respect for Others
I will treat all players, fellow coaches, parents, and officials with dignity and respect, valuing each person as made in the image of God. I will encourage and model positive behavior, fostering teamwork, inclusivity, and support for one another on and off the field.
Integrity in Coaching
I will lead by example, showing honesty, humility, and fairness in all my interactions. I will avoid showing favoritism and will ensure that every child has an opportunity to participate and grow, regardless of their skill level.
Safety and Welfare of the Children
I will prioritize the safety and well-being of every player in my care, ensuring that the equipment is safe, the environment is secure, and proper supervision is provided. I will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, or unsafe behavior and will report any concerns to the program director immediately.
Upholding Biblical Teachings
I will adhere to the beliefs of the Christian faith and teach in a manner that aligns with Biblical principles. I will refrain from teaching or endorsing beliefs that contradict the faith of the church. I will maintain a standard of conduct that reflects the Church's teachings on marriage, family, and sexuality, aligning with the biblical view of marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
No Tolerance for Substance Abuse
I will not use or promote the use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco in any manner, either during practices, games, or other program-related activities. I will set a clear example for the players by avoiding any activity that could harm the health or moral integrity of myself or those around me.
Good Sportsmanship
I will model good sportsmanship by demonstrating respect for the game, the officials, the players, and the opposing team. I will avoid negative behavior, such as arguing with officials, belittling players, or engaging in disrespectful conduct. I will encourage players to handle both victories and defeats with grace.
Communication with Parents
I will maintain open, honest, and respectful communication with parents, sharing the goals of the program and keeping them informed of their child's progress and behavior. I will address any concerns or conflicts promptly and with a spirit of reconciliation, always seeking to resolve issues in a respectful and Christian manner.
Consequences
Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including removal from coaching duties, at the discretion of the RCYS director and/or church leadership.
