Coaches Code of Conduct

If selected as a coach for the RCYS youth softball ministry at Bethel Christian Church, you are entrusted with the responsibility of guiding, mentoring, and modeling Christ-like behavior for the children in our care. Your role is not only to teach the skills of the game but also to uphold the values of our faith in your words, actions, and decisions.

Respect for Others: Treat all players, fellow coaches, parents, and officials with dignity and respect, valuing each person as made in the image of God. Encourage and model positive behavior, fostering teamwork, inclusivity, and support for one another.

Integrity in Coaching: Lead by example, showing honesty, humility, and fairness in all interactions. Avoid showing favoritism and ensure that every child has an opportunity to participate and grow, regardless of skill level.

Safety and Welfare of Children: Prioritize the safety and well-being of every player, ensuring equipment is safe, the environment is secure, and proper supervision is provided. Do not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, or unsafe behavior.

Upholding Biblical Teachings: Adhere to the beliefs of the Christian faith and teach in a manner that aligns with Biblical principles. Maintain a standard of conduct that reflects the Church's teachings on marriage, family, and sexuality.

No Tolerance for Substance Abuse: Do not use or promote the use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco during practices, games, or other program-related activities.

Good Sportsmanship: Model good sportsmanship by demonstrating respect for the game, officials, players, and opposing teams. Avoid negative behavior such as arguing with officials or belittling players.

Communication with Parents: Maintain open, honest, and respectful communication with parents. Address concerns promptly with a spirit of reconciliation.

Statement of Faith

As a potential volunteer representing Bethel Christian Church, all coaches and volunteers must agree with the following:

  • I affirm my belief in Jesus as the Son of God and as God Himself, as stated in John 1:1-14.
  • I understand that coaching in the RCYS program requires alignment with Bethel Christian Church's religious beliefs, which are based solely on the Holy Bible.
  • I pledge to teach and encourage only religious doctrine that affirms Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
  • I believe in the biblical definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:31).

Hold Harmless

By participating as a coach, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bethel Christian Church, its staff, volunteers, officers, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of participation in the program. You acknowledge that your role as a coach is a privilege and that Bethel Christian Church reserves the right to dismiss any volunteer whose actions, behavior, or beliefs do not align with the values and teachings of the church.

  • Field Maintenance: Help prepare fields before games and practices
  • Special Events: Opening day, picture day, end-of-season celebrations
  • Evaluation Days: Assist with check-in, timing, and scoring

To sign up, email staff@rcys.net or speak with any board member at the park.
